Baked BBQ Country Ribs

The original recipe for this from our Family Cookbook did not have the frequent brushing, but after wanting a nice thick coating, I've adapted this simple recipe to spread thin coats of sauce more frequently and end up with a nicely coated rib.

3 pounds country ribs

1 onion

1 1/2 cups BBQ sauce

Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Slice onion and place on bottom of a flat wire rack in a roaster pan. Place ribs on top and bake for 20 minutes. Reduce to 325 degrees. Brush layer of BBQ sauce on ribs. Bake covered 1/2 hour. Take off cover, brush again, and bake for 45 more minutes. Turn ribs over, brush with BBQ sauce and bake for another 45 minutes. Brush with sauce 1/2 way through. Cover with extra sauce if desired before serving.
