Cherry Winks

I remembered these cookies as a child but they were no where in my mother's recipe box. I looked around the internet and was happy to find them.

3/4 cup margarine

1 cup sugar

2 eggs

2 tablespoons milk

1 teaspoon vanilla

2 1/2 cups flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 cup pecans, chopped

1 cup raisins

1/3 cup maraschino cherries, chopped

Extra maraschino cherries for decorating

2 1/2 cups Corn Flakes, crushed

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.  In mixing bowl, cream margarine and sugar.  Add eggs, milk and vanilla; blend well.  Add dry ingredients and mix well.  Stir in nuts, 1/3 cup cherries, and raisins.  Shape into balls using a level tablespoon of dough for each cookie.  Roll ball in crushed cornflakes.  Place on greased cookie sheet.  Press 1/2 cherry into the middle of each cookie.  Bake for 10 to 12 minutes.
