Mom's Orange Slice Cookies

One of my husband's favorites, he doesn't get these every year only because of having to sit down and chop all the sticky orange slices. BUT, if you do, you will have a nice chewy cookie with a completely surprising, unique flavor. When I DO get them made, they are gone in no time!!!

1 1/2 cups brown sugar

1 cup butter or margarine

2 eggs

1 teaspoon baking soda

2 1/2 cups flour

1 cup oatmeal

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup coconut

1 pound orange slices, cut in pieces

1/2 cup walnuts

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix butter or margarine and sugar until creamy. Add eggs; mix well. Mix in flour, baking soda and salt. Stir in coconut, orange slices and walnuts. Drop by spoonsfuls onto cookie sheet and pat a little with fork. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes or until golden brown.
