Mom's Spritz Cookies
My father-in-law got me a Super Shooter years ago. Not sure if they're even made anymore. But I've been making these ever since. They are from my Mom's recipe box. They are one of my oldest sons favorites and I make them every Christmas. I have a smaller Disney Christmas cookie jar, just perfect for these.
1 cup margarine
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla or almond extract
2 1/3 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
Food coloring, optional
Red and green candied cherries, optional
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Cream margarine and sugar. Add egg and flour, baking powder and salt. Mix well. Add coloring and mix well if desired. Pack in a cookie press onto un-greased cookie sheet. Decorate with colored sugar or press red or green candied cherries into dough. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes or until edges are just light brown. Watch carefully.
