Family Stories:

Henry Peik Chilton Times June 19, 1912

Henry Peik was a native of Wisconsin and was born in Milwaukee Dec. 28, 1853. In the sixties he moved with his parents to the town of Charlestown and on March 9, 1880 he was married to Wilhelmina Passehl. He operated a farm for a short time in the town of Brothertown and then moved to a farm three miles north of this city on which he resided twenty-four years, when disposing of it he purchased another farm a mile and a half northwest of Brant on which he lived until some two years ago when poor health compelled him to retire from active work and he purchased a home in this city. He was a quiet, unassuming man, with industrious and thrifty habits and until his health failed was most successful in all his undertaking.

On Wednesday evening at the hospital in Hilbert William Henry Peik of this city, passed away aged 58 years, 5 months and 15 days. Mr. Peik had been an invalid for the past four years and on June 1st was taken to the Hilbert hospital where he underwent an operation for ulcers of the stomach. The operation proved successful and he was doing so nicely after it that his family had strong hopes of his recovery, but prolonged illness had so weakened his system that heart failure followed.

Friends and neighbors, wherever he lived, speak very highly of him and regret his early death.
The funeral will be held on Sunday afternoon from the Reformed church, Rev. W. A Arpke officiating. The deceased is survived by a widow, three sons, Fred, Philip and Elmer, four brothers, James of New Holstein, Charles of Charlestown, Wm. of Sheboygan and John of Chilton town, and two sisters, Mrs. Hans Wichman of New Holstein and Mrs. Adolph Holst of Potter.
