Grandma's Beer Batter

Growing up in Wisconsin where every Friday night was "Fish Fry", when we didn't go out this is the recipe my Grandma used. I have also used this for fried veggies and it's delicious.

1 egg

1 cup beer

1 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon sugar

1 teaspoon baking powder

About 1 cup flour

Fish

Oil for frying

Heat oil in deep fryer or in pan. Beat egg well with mixer. Add beer, salt, sugar, baking powder and flour. Batter is quiet runny. It is of the right consistency when it clings to a spoon. Dip pieces and fry in deep fat until flaky. My deep fryer says 350 degrees for 4 to 6 minutes for fish.
