Mom's Nuts and Bolts
This is the original homespun recipe. Before the "cereal gurus" realized what a money maker they had and added their own recipes to the box. From my Mother's recipe box, this recipe makes a very large amount. My mom always used 1/2 Wheat Chex which were my favorite.
1 box Cheerios
1 box Rice Chex
1 package thin pretzels
2 pounds cashews
2 pounds peanuts
1 1/2 cups vegetable oil
1 pound margarine
1 1/2 teaspoons Tabasco sauce
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon celery salt
1 tablespoon garlic salt
Preheat oven to 200 degrees. Melt oil and margarine in microwave. Add Tabasco sauce, Worcestershire sauce, celery salt, and garlic salt. Put cereal and pretzels in a large roaster and pour oil mixture over. Bake for 2 hours, stirring every 15 minutes. The last 1/2 hour, add the nuts. Turn out on brown paper. Cool and store.
