Salted Peanut Bars-Grandma

3/4 cup shortening

1/2 cup sugar

1/2 cup brown sugar

2 eggs, separated

1 tablespoon water

1 cup salted peanuts, chopped

1 teaspoon vanilla

2 cups flour

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon baking soda

1 (7oz) package chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Cream shortening. Add beaten egg yolks, water and vanilla; blend. Add dry ingredients to first mixture. Spread on top of chocolate chips, then sprinkle with chopped peanuts over this. Bake for 30 minutes. Cut when cool.
