Toffee Bars-Kathy

1 cup packed brown sugar

1 cup butter, softened

1 egg yolk

1 teaspoon vanilla

2 cups flour

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 (4oz.) bar milk chocolate candy or 1 (12oz.) bag milk chocolate chips

1/2 cup chopped nuts

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Mix brown sugar, butter, egg yolk and vanilla. Stir in flour and salt. Press into greased oblong pan (cookie sheet). Bake until very light brown, 10 to 12 minutes (crust will be soft). Remove from oven. Immediately place chocolate on crust. Let stand until soft. (Place the pan in the turned off oven with the door open---takes about 3 minutes to melt.) Spread chocolate evenly. Sprinkle with nuts. Cut bars about 1 1/2X2 inches while warm.
