Old Fashioned Oven Swiss Steak-Millie

1 1/2 pounds beef round steak

1 teaspoon salt

1 (16oz.) can stewed tomatoes

1/2 cup celery, chopped

1/2 cup carrots, chopped

1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

1/4 cup Cheddar cheese, grated

1/4 cup flour

2 tablespoons onion, chopped

Cut the meat into 4 portions. Mix the flour and salt; pound into meat, setting aside the remaining flour and salt mixture. Brown the meat in a small amount of oil or shortening, then place the meat in a shallow baking dish. Blend the remaining flour and salt with the drippings in the skillet; add the other ingredients, except cheese. Cook this skillet mixture, stirring constantly, until it boils. Pour over meat. Cover and bake at 350 degrees for 2 hours. Top with cheese and heat a few additional minutes. Serves 4.
