Heavenly Seven-Layer Salad-Karen

1 1/2 quart shredded lettuce, 1 medium to large head

2 cups chopped tomato

1 (10 ounce) frozen peas, thawed and drained

1 cup red onion rings

1 (10 to 12 ounce) package shredded Cheddar cheese

2 cups mushroom slices

2 cups mayonnaise

In large salad bow, or 9X13 inch glass pan, layer lettuce, tomatoes, mushrooms, peas and onions. Spread mayonnaise over onions, sealing to edge of bowl. Cover with shredded cheese. Cover; chill several hours, or overnight. Garnish with bacon bits.
