Gordy Jr.'s Potato Soup-Gordy Jr.

Peel enough potatoes to fill a large kettle halfway; slice or dice the potatoes. Add onion as much as you like, a bay leaf and 1 tablespoon salt; fill with water and cook until potatoes are done. Remove bay leaf and drain water off to about 1/4 left. Add milk, enough to make a soup. Thicken with cornstarch to right consistency. Add butter, salt and pepper, to taste. Add bacon bits if desired. Serve with cracker or a fresh loaf of Italian bread.
