Roasted Potato Fans-Jamie

6 medium potatoes

6 tablespoons butter or margarine

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon basil

1/4 teaspoon marjoram leaves

1/8 teaspoon pepper

About 1 1/4 hours before serving, peel potatoes. Cut each potato crosswise into 1/4 inch thick slices, being careful to cut each slice only 3/4 of the way through potato. In a 9x13 inch baking pan in 400 degree oven melt butter. Arrange potatoes, cut side up in pan; brush with melted butter, sprinkle with salt, basil, marjoram and pepper. Bake 1 hour or until potatoes are golden and slices are fanned out, occasionally brushing potatoes wit butter in pan. Makes 6 accompaniment servings.
